A Syrian-bound Russian military plane carrying 92 people including Red Army Choir members crashed in the Black Sea minutes after taking off from Sochi.
The Tu-154 model plane, which belonged to the Russian defense ministry, crashed shortly after take-off from the southern city of Adler at 5.40am (2.40am GMT). There were no survivors.
Four bodies have been recovered off the coast of the resort city of Sochi, as a frantic search operation continued to find the missing.
Viktor Ozerov, head of the defence affairs committee at the upper house of Russian parliament, said he 'totally excluded' terrorism as a possible cause of the crash because the plane was operated by the military.
A security source indicated the plane had crashed because of a technical malfunction or a pilot error.

A sad disaster. Russia has suffered much.

They must have been headed to SYRIA to do Christmas concert perhaps in liberated Aleppo
What a tragedy that some will rejoice at this

It should be noted that their are two organizations that claim the title of Red Army Choir. The Alexandrov Ensemble, and the MVD Ensemble. The former group was involved in the crash.
Condolences from the wun forthcoming?
Russia sure has. If it weren’t for Russia and its willingness to suffer for others, Putin couldn’t stay in power. He’d be prosecuted for his crimes if the Russians were not so good at suffering for no apparent good reason. The Russians need to do with less materially and less freedom, and they need to continue to rebuild the empire for Putin’s glory.
The choir was a messenger of peace bringing warmth to many people.

Loved that video. Thanks for posting it. Such fun. :)
The TU 154 was the Russian equivalent of the Boeing 727. It was first flown in 1968. How many 727’s do you see flying here today? Answer: nearly none and none at all in airline service.
Just wow. Gave me a good laugh this morning. Roll Tide!
the last TU-154 rolled off assembly line in 2010 or so, a upgraded version the M series - big difference.
Russian Capital Goods typically have very long production runs with the same designation model being significantly upgraded over time. it’s a different approach than ours, so don’t assume that the plane in question was a 35 year old aircraft.
They had better check to see if there are any muslims on the ground crew.
Very sad loss.

Very sad. Condolences to their families - I can’t imagine what they are going through.
The Russians are a lot more like us than most realize.
