It is good Cruz is doing this but we really need to leave the UN and kick the UN out of our country. Let them pass their crap resolutions in Geneva or some such place.
Sen. Cruz’ idea is a good start. The UN is a massive sinkhole for good money.
While I think that US participation in the UN is still more useful than withdrawal, we definitely need to reduce our spending and withhold funds until we get a proper accounting.
Once President Elect Trump and Ambassador designate Haley are in their respective offices, we should see a return to saner US policies toward the UN as a body and to its bureaucracy.

Trump will be leery of trusting Cruz but will likely utilize his strong points to further his agenda.
Go a step further. Defund it. Then leave the organization. Then kick them off US soil. Turn the HQ in to a Trump luxury apartment building! Screw the UN. They have done nothing but perpetrate tyranny, support genocide, and pass anti-American anti-Israel resolution their entire history.
There needs to be more than just that. Any country that voted for the despicable resolution needs to never be eligible for US aid as long as the resolution stands. That includes military aid, development aid, countries should be placed on the no travel or trade list.

Nix on the "until" condition. Just get the United States out of the U.N. now. Our tax dollars to this organization just keeps a bunch of debate society members in Caviar, Limousines, and prostitutes.
At least you'd think they'd like us for that - but they are always scheming of new ways to milk more money out of us - and giving us a kick in the teeth in return.

Defunding the U.N. is a start. Prosecuting the U.N. for its various crimes would be better (war crimes, human trafficking, prostitution rackets, Oil for Food, etc.).
The UN is an organization organized around Marxist principles. Each member pays according to its perceived ability, and gets benefits according to perceived need. It means that the USA pays the bulk of the expenses and gets none of the benefits.
Time to let a certain real estate developer put some luxury apartments at Turtle Bay.
