An Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services ambulance was hijacked Sunday afternoon at approximately 4 p.m. with a medic crew and patient inside. Its certainly a surprising event and especially to have two in a month, Captain Rick Rutledge, with ATCEMS told KXAN on Monday, causing ATCEMS to think twice about whether procedural changes need to be made to protect equipment, patients and crews. ATCEMS says until this month, the last ambulance theft in recent memory in the early 1990s, prompting policy changes and training crews still follow today. Rutledge says the crew involved in Sundays hijacking did everything right by first securing the patient, then themselves, and notifying the communication center which was relaying information to APD. But still, it happened. Righto outside of the ARCH, where KXAN reported earlier this year ATCEMS visits, on average, seven times a day.

I they hoping to steal drugs from them? Or do the thieves just generally lack critical thinking skills?
Typical American
Nothing good happens outside the ARCH after 6:00 a.m.
*I They* = Are they...
They need a gunner in a turret on the top.

I figured you had dropped the guess. 8>)
Narcotics.
It seems that homeless men are trying go to prison in order to get three hots and a cot, but the criminal justice system doesn't want to oblige them.
Huh. Unusual. Usually bums call 911 to get their free taxi ride downtown.
I hate when people hijack an ambulance with me in it.
There should be no regard shown for this thugs life just as he showed none for the life of another.
He should be exterminated. If one of my family members was in the ambulance, he’d better hope I would never find him.

Both of my parents were taken to the hospital over the last few years (both have now passed away). If this thug had stolen the ambulance with my parents being rushed to the hospital, he would soon be needing a hearse. I would have had people take care of him.
Then how about three hots and a shot?
Need to put these guys on a chain gang and work their butts in the heat when they do something of this order. Work will stop crime...haaa!
Just announced an arrest in this latest ambulance carjacking.
