Health Reform: On the eve of President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration and the looming repeal of ObamaCare, Democrats are making claims that the law is just now starting to work as promised. It's a convenient narrative for the left, but totally false.
ObamaCare advocates point to a couple bits of news as evidence that after a rough year, the law appears to be stabilizing.
Last week, the Obama administration celebrated what it called "a record" level of sign-ups, with enrollment up 400,000 from last year.
"Today's enrollment numbers confirm that some of the doomsday predictions about the marketplace are not bearing out," said Health Secretary Sylvia Burwell. "American people don't want to go backward. They don't want to gamble with their health care during a repeal and delay."
The next day, a Standard and Poor's report says industry losses from their ObamaCare plans might be tapering off, and that 2017 "will likely see continued improvement" with "more insurers getting close to break-even or better."

...American people don’t want to go backward...
Yes. They really enjoy those 20% to 100%+ annual premium increases. It’s just sharing the wealth.
I’d also note that one of the reasons the losses in 2017 may not be as bad as this year for insurers is because the premiums are going up 20, 40, 50% or higher in most states and deductibles are increasing. That’s hardly evidence that it’s stabilizing. If my company jacked up prices 30% and the government still paid the price (subsidies), we’d be losing less/making more as well.
Yeah, it is absolutely amazing how many people will sign up for something when it is required by law and your tax returns are held as ransom.
Sounds like a mob racket...
The ONLY people happy with Obamacare are the one’s who get it FREE or close to free.
“...more insurers getting close to break-even or better.”
And, who is bearing the cost of that trudge to breakeven? I now have a plan that is 40% more expensive than prior to ACA, but with deductibles that are up 200%, and copay’s are up 100% from where they were just last year.
There are very few endeavors in which FedGov has Constitutional authority (regardless of how bastardized the Commerce clause has become), and those do NOT include healthcare, or health insurance (the real substance of the ACA), or the stepping stones to single payer, commie health care (the intended endpoint of the ACA).
Dump this piece of legislative tripe. It doesn’t need ‘replaced’, just gone...
Get the government out of the health care business. Open up interstate competition for insurers, and get the hell out of the way.
Stabilization, my foot.
My premium has doubled in the past few years and the deductible has quintupled.
It’s actually about to get much worse, because Obama timed the worst parts of the law to hit after he was out of office.

My word these people must think we are idiots...
Oh’ Wait’ ...they do...
Indeed. The plan that I bought for my son at $167 per month is now up to $436 per month. And because of the high deductibles, it has never actually covered any medical expense.
Isn't Obamacare great?
ObamaCare = Shell Game
“Get the government out of the health care business. Open up interstate competition for insurers, and get the hell out of the way.”
This.
Which is 95% of the people signing up.
All four working adults at my Thanksgiving dinner who sigined up for ObamaCare early on said they can no longer afford it. I never could afford it so I never signed up. (All I’ve got left is my faith in Jesus.) This crap needs to die. Are you listening Donald? Can we sue Obama for lying to get this enacted?
Which, is exactly how Obama and other Dems defended the outrageous increases: "Most people on the exchanges have government subsidies."
It has not even been fully implemented yet.
The moved the “employer mandate” until after this election.
They would have lost in an even bigger landslide
I am torn between letting it get FULLY implements (including forcing CONGRESS to live under it) and letting people see how bad it is, or just repealing it before it can do more damage.
I guess I would lean toward quick repeal.
