Erdoğan and Free Syria Army claim assault on Isis stronghold, thought to be where Istanbul nightclub attack was planned, will end in days.

Turkey has said the operation to retake from Islamic State the Syrian town of al-Bab, the terror group’s westernmost stronghold, will be “finished soon” after launching the most intensive bombardment of the four-month campaign in the days after the Istanbul nightclub attack.

Using jets and artillery, Turkish officials claimed to have killed scores of Isis members following the shooting dead of 39 people in an attack on new year revellers claimed by Isis. The ground assault is being led by members of the Free Syria Army, which has carved out a swath of influence for Ankara in northern Syria as its troops have pushed towards al-Bab.

Turkey sees the handwriting on the wall

The ISIS terrorists that Turkey has been supporting have lost In Syria just like they lost in Iraq

The ISIS/al- Qaeda terrorist now want to move to Turkey so they can do for Turkey what they did for Syria and Iraq

Turkey realizes that dead men tell no tales and cause no harm and the last thing Turkey wants is a bunch of Jihadi exposing Turkeys role in supporting ISIS and streaming across the Turk borders to bring their Jihad to Turkey

Correct on all points. Even worse is the US position, further down in the article:

Turkey on Wednesday intensified its feud with the US, claiming that Washington has not been providing it with air cover in al-Bab and that a failure to back its offensive could lead it to deny access to the İncirlik air base in southern Turkey.

Such a move would make the US campaign against Isis more difficult and costly.

But then the US campaign against Isis is mostly restrained under Hussein Obama and that may change significantly under President Trump.

Turks are having a very slow go of their attack. They are leading. Soon they will change and _allow_ their militants to lead...

I’ll take a bet before looking:

This is a historically Kurdish town.

Everything Turkey does to “fight ISIS” just happens to have the side benefit of annihilating the Kurds.

The not so secret agenda in the Turks taking Al-Bab is to split two Kurdish strongholds and to keep the Kurds from forming a viable state. Subjugating the Kurds is their stated goal.

True, the Turks have been after the Kurds for decades, and Obama, and the Rats with some help from the Bush family and RINO GOPee, have destabilized the ME to the point of crisis, giving the Turks an opportunity to whack the Kurds good.
