While Barber was head of the North Carolina NAACP, the organization’s website carried a long list of (false) and outrageously inaccurate accusations against the wrongly-accused Duke lacrosse players;

the same NAACP reversed its usual course and for the first time fought against a change of venue for a racially-charged case, demanded a racial quota for the jury,
sought a gag order (to prevent the defense from countering the lies),

and Barber personally continued to defame the players after the case was over.
