Yesterday North Carolina Republican Richard Hudson introduced the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 for consideration in the House. If passed, the legislation would allow concealed carry holders in any state to travel across state lines without fear of criminal retribution.
Our Second Amendment right doesnt disappear when we cross state lines, and this legislation guarantees that. The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 is a common sense solution to a problem too many Americans face. It will provide law-abiding citizens the right to conceal carry and travel freely between states without worrying about conflicting state codes or onerous civil suits," Hudson released in a statement. "As a member of President-elect Trumps Second Amendment Coalition, I look forward to working with my colleagues and the administration to get this legislation across the finish line."

You gotta like this part:
“President-elect Trumps Second Amendment Coalition”
When was the last time you heard of something like that?
This is a great first step in the right direction. Let’s not be displaying negativity in the first bite of the elephant.
I’m betwixt and between on this one...though national reciprocity makes it easier traveling while carrying, I’m not a big fan of anything national...tends to be watered down for the masses. Prefer a Constitutional view of it as a 2A right to carry, open or concealed, period.
LOL! Only problem is I get a little ‘hinkey’ whenever ANYONE uses the term ‘coalition’.
If the NRA really cared about the 2nd, they would be advocating the fact that I don’t need anyone’s permission to carry a firearm, concealed or otherwise.
Roger that.
The 2nd Amendment also says NOTHING about requiring any permits or licenses to carry.
Eff the government.
I think this is a step in the right direction. Yes, it should be unnecessary and does not go far enough and overly federalizes the issue but.... I do favor incremental gains where we can take them. Plus it gives Head Clown Chuck Schumer one more thing to fight against. I want to see the Left on its heels as initiative after imitative gets driven home.
California would FREAK OUT at the thought of armed Oregonians and Nevadans coming across the border.

Yes... The left didn’t get where they are overnight either. They ALWAYS come back for more while never giving any ground. Granted, they always had the press on their side, which would send our always accommodating RINOs scurrying. But today is new day. Inch by inch, step by step, slowly we turn.
I would prefer something along the lines of a re-affirmation that unless otherwise prohibited, the 2nd Amendment means what it says. NO infringement on “bearing arms”. Carry at will. EOFS!
I agree, but may I make another proposal since we know this will NEVER HAPPEN.
All Persons having someone in their Employ or Employed on their Behalf for Armed security purposes, Shall maintain and possess at ALL TIMES a Firearm,Ammuniution, or Weapons are Present, a Valid CCW Permit from the State they legally Reside.
A Violation of this Law shall be a Felony, and upon conviction the defendant shall serve no less than 10 years in Federal Prison.
This is one way to PERMANENTLY ELIMINATE all the Hired Guns proud Liberals love to hire for themselves.
Yes indeed. If it’s okay to license firearms, it’s okay to license journalists.

U R welcome.
Politics is the art of the possible.
it may take YEARS for a solid RKBA majority in SCOTUS and the right case to enforce what we all want (a firm declaration of the 2nd as being un-infrangible)
I like this bill because it will let me, as a Californian, get a CCW license in any state and CA must recognize it (the precise wording indicates either a resident of a state or licensed to carry in that state, some states do not require residency; I shall be on the first plane to Utah from CA).
Band aid,or maybe a tourniquet.
Post of the day. One only needs to contemplate the NRA has been around since 1870 something and assisted in most every egregious usurpation of our INDIVIDUAL human rights especially involving the second amendment. Not to say they don’t do some good, and take lots of undeserved heat, but they are not and never have been that good in curtailing governments attacks on our second amendment rights. Just consider the 1934 Act, 1968, 1986, and quite a lot more related to prohibited persons, mental health, etc etc. We need a rabid dog not go along to get along. JMHO.
Lame and incomplete. Lame in that this does not end the patchwork of laws it claims to do. It says follow the laws. Does that mean my 17-round magazine and gun are still illegal in California? Does this law give me right to carry concealed in DC, New Yor, And California or Hawaii that really do not let anyone nut LEO ccarry? And what about other guns? My California “assault” weapon and 30-round magazines. The law is a bit obtuse on these points. Why not simply state that 2nd amendment shall apply equally in all states and that lawful ownship, possession, and carry shall not be infringed by any state or local jurisdiction. Preempt these laws for everyone.
No. We need to be honest and transparent. As a NRA Life member, I am not happy they are not promoting a more clear cut bill.
What I worry about, is that any federal CCW legislation will impose conditions and requirements on states, in order for their CCW licenses to be considered in compliance.
The long term trend has been in our favor without federal interference.
That said, I would like to have Trump’s DOJ aggressively push the Heller decision against states that are still “May Issue”, on the argument that bearing arms is a Constitutional right, and that restrictions upon it are subject to the “strict scrutiny” doctrine.
