At home and abroad, Obama’s trail of disasters
Boston Globe ^ | January 8, 2017 | Jeff Jacoby

Posted on 01/09/2017 6:07:27 AM PST by Makana

AS HE PREPARES to move out of the White House, Barack Obama is understandably focused on his legacy and reputation. The president will deliver a farewell address in Chicago on Tuesday; he told his supporters in an e-mail that the speech would “celebrate the ways you’ve changed this country for the better these past eight years,” and previewed his closing argument in a series of tweets hailing “the remarkable progress” for which he hopes to be remembered.

In 2010, two years after electing him president, voters trounced Obama’s party, handing Democrats the biggest midterm losses in 72 years. Obama was reelected in 2012, but by nearly 4 million fewer votes than in his first election, making him the only president ever to win a second term with shrunken margins in both the popular and electoral vote. Two years later, with Obama imploring voters, “[My] policies are on the ballot — every single one of them,” Democrats were clobbered again. And in 2016, as he campaigned hard for Hillary Clinton, Obama was increasingly adamant that his legacy was at stake. “I’m not on this ballot,” he told campaign rallies in a frequent refrain, “but everything we’ve done these last eight years is on the ballot.” The voters heard him out, and once more turned him down.

Jacoby is the Globe hostage Republican. Still, it's astounding that the editors give him the space to write this.

Once he’s out of power, the criticism will be unleashed. Someone has to take the fall for the Democrat collapse.

’ Obama was reelected in 2012, but by nearly 4 million fewer votes than in his first election’

Not to mention the role that the IRS, Media, etc., played in destroying Romney. When I realized Obama was going to ‘win’ (and I didn’t sleep a wink that election night), I told my husband ‘my country is done’. And 4 days later I was in the ER with spiking blood pressure. This pResident has been more destructive to the very fabric of the USA than anyone else in our history. Prayers that Trump can right this good ship and put us back on the road to prosperity.

The Globe but Jacoby on ice for the 2008 election on a trumpted up ethics violation.

Darn, there’s a dust bunny under my dresser I’m schedule to clean on Tuesday. So wanted to watch the marxist muslim narcissist tell me again how he’s made the world safer, increased jobs, and reduced race divisiveness. Oh well, got my priorities.

2010 midterms voters trounced Obama’s party, handing them the biggest losses in 72 years. 2012 Obama was reelected by nearly 4 million fewer votes than in 2008, making him the only president ever to win a second term with shrunken margins in both the popular and electoral vote.

Two years later Obama implored voters, “[My] policies are on the ballot — every single one of them” ......nevertheless, despite Obama's braggadocio, Democrats were clobbered again.

.....in 2016, he campaigned hard for Hillary....“I’m not on this ballot,” he told campaign rallies in a frequent refrain, “but everything we’ve done these last eight years is on the ballot.”

The voters heard him loud and clear......and once again turned him down (and threw out scores of like-minded Democrats).

==============================================

/Obama has a habit of raining on Hillary's parade. Hillary's debates came off looking good and she looked good after the convention.

But her campaign fell off a cliff, after Obama gave her a push. Obama's burnishing his legacy is all he ever thinks about b/c it means big bucks for his foundations.

So his sap-happy "I'm Great" messaging forced Hillary to follow his lead and run for a third Obama term. She no longer ran on change, she ran on Obama's continued progressiveness in a country crying for change.

She lost the election in the final two weeks because of avoidable things like Obama embracing her that sent the electorate a frightening message.

The Royal Idiot's ringing endorsement of Hillary meant many people had moved over to the Trump side.

CAUTION: prolonged viewing causes violent retching.

"I flacked her on AF One and she lost four points.
This frickin' faked pose oughta be good for a point."

Sadly, I went to the comments after the article. Turns out 90%+ of those comments make fun of Jeff Jacoby and parrot all those insults we have heard for 8 years. No, the Globe and it’s readers have not grown up.

It’s fitting that he ends his reign of terror in Chicago the murder capital he created. This guy is so self delusional he created an entire industry of sycophants to adore him...It’s truly just like the old yarn Emperor’s Clothes....

What remains of the Democrat party are the people who just want to watch the world burn.

Despite his braggadocio, Obama’s legacy is a devastated Democratic Party; his party is smaller, weaker and ricketier than it has been since at least the 1940s.

Behold the tremendous power that Democrats have frittered away — from January 2009 through the aftermath of Election Day — thanks to Obama and his ideas:

•Democrats surrendered the White House to political neophyte Donald J. Trump.

•US Senate seats slipped from 55 to 46, down 16 percent.

•US House seats fell from 256 to 194, down 24 percent.

•Democrats ran the Senate and House in 2009. Next year, they will control neither.

•Governorships slid from 28 to 16, down 43 percent.

•State legislatures (both chambers) plunged from 27 to 14, down 48 percent

•Trifectas (states with Democrat governors and both legislative chambers) cratered from 17 to 6, down 65 percent.

In terms of boosting his party’s state-level strength, Obama is the worst president since World War II. Reagan is the best.

Democrats can chant the soothing lie that this wholesale, multi-level rejection of their party stems from “structural racism,” the legacy of Jim Crow, the immortal tentacles of slavery, or whatever other analgesic excuse they can scrounge up. The same nation that they claim cannot outgrow its bigotry somehow elected and then re-elected Obama, quite comfortably.

This deep-rooted repudiation is not of Obama himself, but of Obamaism, today’s Democratic gospel. (hat tip Deroy Murdock NY Post)

Prayers that Trump can right this good ship and put us back on the road to prosperity.

Prayers for not only prosperity but something much more important and that is to bring us back to a faith based society, a turn back to the creator of all things and respect for all of God's creation. We must put Him back in our schools and universities. Back to a civil society that prays openly and proudly. Amen

Not sure if they will ever admit that Obama (and the Clintons) are the reason for the collapse of the Democrat party.

They thought with Obama, they were invincible. Any criticism was labeled "racism."

Now the Democrats are precluded from any self-examination out of fear of being labeled "racist" for placing the blame where it rightfully belongs - at the feet of Obama.

I'm Lovin' It!

The DemocRAT party used to be the State Rights party 50 years ago. Now they have morphed into the Socialist/globalists party. No Likey.
