The Trump administration is seeking major cuts to federal spending upon taking office, with plans to eliminate agencies and programs to reduce the budget by over $10 trillion.
The National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities would be eliminated, according to a new report on the administrations spending priorities published by the Hill.
Both arts agencies have budgets of roughly $147 million. The NEA awards millions of dollars worth of grants for art projects each year, which have included plays about assassinating Christopher Columbus, food stamps, and gun-control activist lesbians, climate change poetry, and Doggie Hamlet.

What will they do with all their bottles of a Crucifix in piss?
Good!
None of those are proper roles for our federal government. Also, our children and grandchildren are too deep in debt, thanks to Barack Hussein Obama, and they cannot afford those frivolous expenses.
Artists and musicians are the most left-wing people on the planet. Let them earn an honest living for a change.
In his hearing today Steve Mnuchin strongly stated ( IMHO ) that we can't let FANNIE AND FREDDIE go another 4 or 8 years. He may have said reform, I missed some of it, I prefer Privatization, but let that go.
Grab the popcorn folks those 2 alone are enough to warm the cockles of your heart.
BTW both their stocks dropped after his words....
I think $10.5 Trillion is what Michelle spend on her last vacation.
“Let Soros and Steyer finance the arts ... do something good with their ill-gotten billions for once.”
Actually, we don’t need the friggin’ “arts.”
“$10.5T”
Large as federal spending is, it’s not $10.5T per year.
I assume that means “over 10 years”, which is a common metric that perpetually irritates me because (A) it’s always back-loaded to when everyone will have forgotten about it and completely changed the plans, and (B) the President advocating the plan _will_ be gone from budgetary involvement no later than 8 years - so why is he talking about 10 years, as if his successor will consent to implementing the hardest part of his likely-opposition predecessor’s plan?
I’m interested in what Mr. President (whoever he may be) will do THIS year. If that’s cutting spending (not budget, but actual spending) by $1T (vs last year) I’ll be thrilled.
Oh yeah, welcome back from your five year sabbatical.
It’s about time, and I hope this is just a warm-up for the elimination of much larger and unnecessary agencies. Defunding PBS and Planned Parenthood would be absolutely wonderful.
Good. I taught English literature in the College of Arts and Sciences at NYU for 50 years. But there was certainly never the faintest chance that I would ever get a grant from those P.C. perverts. And every year things got worse.
I got on very well with my students, and taught as I wished, but it was always a dodgy game with the Powers that Be.
Fantastic!! How much federal tax money goes to NPR?? Slay dragons one at a time.........;)
Cut Cut Cut!!!
... If only California had an actor that could say that line.. but I don’t recall one ,, just some losers fighting climate change, and as big a wastrels as ever held office...
and now Trump.. perhaps setting the stage for the largest cuts ever..
Time for America’s political class to go on a series diet.. or risk dying as a pauper in a partisan ditch facedown with no political capital and a hugh pile of debt on top of them.
Place yur bets. The bar is Open. The smoke lamp is lit.
I was all excited about this when I thought NEA referred to the National Education Association. I guess that kind of explains why I was confused when Black Lives Matters announced that even more land was to come under their jurisdiction...
This is so awesome.
Yup.
Which means uniparty on our side will be a problem.
How about taking the money saved and paying down the onerous debt left for my grand kids to pay? Or better yet give the savings (our money) back to you and me!
Good schools with choice and competition too.
