Exactly. At pow-wows (again, a suspect word) around here, Indian vendors put up signs that say “N-D-N Tacos.” No one seems to take any offense. What’s important is the fry-bread that is used to make them! (And the salt pork.)
I hear you. I love Indian Tacos made with fry bread! Very popular here. And that is exactly what they are called here too, “Indian Tacos,” or “N-D-N” tacos.
And every Pow-Wow that I have ever attended opens with the Trooping of the Colors, a Salute to Our Beloved Indian Veterans, a Prayer, and the Pledge of Allegiance.
What we Northern MiQ’Maw find offensive is the New Age Wiccan Vendors who seem to think that mixing a few Chinese dream catchers in with their crystals and goddess amulets somehow make them fit right in.
P.S. my moniker here on FR “Inyo-Mono” are two Paiute-Shoshone Indian words meaning “Indian Land” an “grubs” a staple food in the old days.
