Exactly. It might also be one answer to the problems of drugs and inner city crime. Especially if infrastructure projects are happening far from their old inner city neighborhoods and workers camp onsite during the project. Get them off the couch and also out of their environment where everyone else is also living the welfare lifestyle.
Judges used to give first offenders for minor crimes the choice of enlisting in the military to get them out of their environment and grow up amongst responsible adults. I wonder if they still do that ?
