I have thought this for awhile. Due to all of the addicts out there, the people who NEED these drugs are going to suffer. It actually makes me angry. I’m tired of the excuses the addicts give. Sure, some may have gone into addiction because of pain, but I don’t think that’s a majority of people. Just my opinion. And I don’t want to hear everyone’s horror story about their child, spouse, grandma, dog, etc. Bottom line is some people need these drugs and each case should be handled individually.

Sadly true. My mom was end stage lung cancer and had to actually go to the oncologists office 2x monthly so she could get her pain meds. He was not allowed to just continue giving them unless she came in. And of course, he was always overbooked and running late and would have cancer patients sitting for 2-3 hours in his waiting room, in pain, exhausted- it was horrible to see.

I finally caused quite a scene about the wait time and was banned from his office....

The problem is the difficulty getting the legal prescriptions drives people to go to the heroine market. Money that goes to the drug cartel is a story of corruption and gang violence. By allowing patients to go through the legal process and deliver a medical solution prevents the latter lawlessness. I say, let a patient get all the pain relief that can medically be achieved. It surly prevents even worse collateral damage.

Thank you! Ever roll on the bathroom floor for hours in agony with either a kidney stone or a gall stone? I have and oxytocin barley touches it, but does help. Now absolutely everyone if got their hair on fire about this and real people are going to suffer needlessly because everyone’s suddenly got the chic cause dejour.

I agree.

And since he probably lived around here, did he try everywhere? I was so surprised to be able to get a huge bottle of codeine for my family at a local urgent care. They saw my old bottle which finally went empty after 10 years of use. (The patient was my son with bronchitis who wouldn’t touch the syrup, but they didn’t know that)

Totally agree.
As a young man, I
hit a tree on a snow
mobile. Spent 6 weeks
feeling like a hot dog
at a 7-11. I was pumped
full of pain killers. I
live with moderate to severe
pain, and refuse to take any
prescription pain killers.
I hated the way they made
me feel. I’ve been taking
1800mg Ibuprofen per day for
over 40 years.(kidneys and
liver working perfectly).
There are times during a sciatic
attack when that’s not quite
enough and I can be heard
screaming a block away.
Like clockwork, it’s much more
tolerable in about 3 days.
I can only imagine what this
person went thru if he was
desperate enough to take his
own life. May god accept him,
and end his pain.
