To almost everything you suggested.....no, that isn't the way the law works. Much easier to appeal and win, than cause more legal issues.

Has anybody actually seen the full decision, yet? I am wondering if it holds up to even subtle scrutiny. The judge is essentially blocking use of a 65 year old law.

It all works.

The president can fire or suspend Homeland Security Agents that abide by the court order and he can Pardon Homeland Security Agents that refuse to follow the judge’s order.

He can also install Military Police to take the place of the dismissed Homeland Security Agents.

The judge is blocking the Executive part of our Democracy from exercising its lawful duties. The Constitution supports Trump as do several laws.
