Commentary: I am a deplorable, and I'm happy I voted for Trump
Chicago Tribune ^ | February 5, 2017 | By Jeff Bust

My views on most issues are not fashionable or attractive to the mainstream media, Hollywood celebrities, educators or Democrats.

I am weary of lectures about what values I should have and how insensitive I am. I am tired of being "guilted" for having a job, finding a way to live comfortably and having a practical sense of priority on global warming. I make choices and decisions based on what can be done and what I can pay for, not on what is said or promised. I don't carry signs, chant, dress up in clever costumes, vandalize or wear pink hats.

I work, and I worry about who pays the tab. My voice has not counted for years, but we have long since passed the point where that is even relevant. The injustice now is that this country has already spent so much money and incurred so much debt that the bill will fall to our grandchildren. My view is that this country does not have the right to spend future taxpayers' money without their consent. . .

The comments are telling.

Their utter stupidity is exhausting.

pay off state and federal debt first

More likely Illinois would go bankrupt, Feds would inflate.

Relatives who left Texas for Illinois prudently kept their place in Texas. They will have somewhere to go when IL goes belly up.

People who have different (and false) assumptions about reality come across as stupid.

That is the real difference between the “progressives” and conservatives in this country.

“Progressives” believe the truth is what they say it is.

Conservatives believe truth is based in reality.

“Progressives” are not protesting Conservatives, they are protesting reality.

I used to frequent a hot dog cart near my office in Mesa, Arizona. It was owned by a former Chicago auctioneer. He had a table and chairs set up where people could stop by and eat.

Many customers, who were also from Chicago, ended up frequenting the stand too. It was kind of a place to hang out if you were from Chicago. They all used to tell stories and brag about how cool Chicago was. I became friendly with a lot of them over several years.

One day, listening to their stories glorifying Chicago, I asked the obvious question, "If Chicago is such a great place to live, why are all you guys living here in Arizona now?"

Almost in unison, they replied, "Well, it ain't that nice."

Back in the late 60’s and early 70’s, New Yorkers were bailing out of NYC to Houston and Dallas and then whining about how great New York was. People in Texas were sick of them and had bumper stickers made that read: “Like New York, Take I59N Back.”

“My view is that this country does not have the right to spend future taxpayers’ money without their consent”

Taxation without representation is exactly what it is.

“So, go ahead — rage, riot, demonstrate, burn, dress up, march, protest, pout, sing, make speeches, resist, vandalize and denounce me as much as you want. I am deplorable, and I am happier with my vote every day.”

Ditto.

Wow - the comments are hilarious. The Chicagoans that aren’t busily killing each other over drugs appear to be just as stupid as those who are.
