NSA contractor indicted over mammoth theft of classified data

A former National Security Agency contractor was indicted on Wednesday by a federal grand jury on charges he willfully retained national defense information, in what U.S. officials have said may have been the largest heist of classified government information in history. The indictment alleges that Harold Thomas Martin, 52, spent up to 20 years stealing highly sensitive government material from the U.S. intelligence community related to national defense, collecting a trove of secrets he hoarded at his home in Glen Burnie, Maryland. The government has not said what, if anything, Martin did with the stolen data.

Martin faces 20 criminal counts, each punishable by up to 10 years in prison, the Justice Department said. "For as long as two decades, Harold Martin flagrantly abused the trust placed in him by the government," said U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein.

But, did he have any “criminal intent”?

Or was it all about yoga pants...

He was taking it home for safe keeping.

So Hellary couldn’t provide it to her donors.

But the funny thing about it is they have ZERO evidence he was transferring it:

The guy was the NSA equivalent of a Crazy Cat Lady.

He loved his job, and couldn’t stop doing it.

That’s darkly funny, but there’s a grain of truth there.

Granted he started his work at a time when the idea there’d EVER be a PRESIDENT who harbored an active HATRED for the USA was remote, so...he is guilty of SOMEthing.

Yet...if you were just starting out now and seeing the utterly indifferent way the tippy top leadership thought about security, well...that’s a different thing.

Hillary had most of her devices configured so that she DID NOT EVEN HAVE TO TYPE IN HER PASSWORD:

She physically cracked her notebook, etc, and it came alive instantly, totally open.

It would even be easy for her to completly forget her own password, and I use the singular version of the word, it was the SAME password across devices.

She was considerably more casual about her security than even middle-schoolers.

This guy’s stuff was MUCH safer than the info Hillary had.

He was Fort Knox compared to Hillary and Huma.

That’s what I’m thinking.
It was probably stupid to take the stuff home.

But at the same time, I want someone making backups of everything during the Obama administration. We know he ordered the records of Muslims with ties to terrorist organizations wiped, what else did Obama order destroyed?

If I was this guy, I would invoke “The Hillary Defense”.
No intent.

Laws on handling of secret data don’t give a flip about intent. You took what you weren’t supposed to, that IS a crime. Selling it to the enemy is just one more charge.

Yet, Hellary is free to take long walks in the woods.

I still want to know what’s in the bottom of that swimming pool she recently filled in.
