I think his point is that immigrants (white or otherwise) have traditionally been hungrier when they first get here and thus work harder.

I don’t think it’s an unfair generalization.

And even though I’m strongly against illegal migration (for rule of law reasons), I believe that the illegals and their descendents here will eventually be very successful simply because of the genes they possess that gave them the initiative, toughness, smarts, and hard work to overcome the obstacles in front of them.

Do you really think the hardships of those sneaking over an undefended border--or those legally admitted, either--have or will triumph over hardships remotely equivalent to crossing a tumultuous ocean in slow moving wooden sail boats, clearing a wilderness, holding their own against hostile Indians, and building communities literally from the groundup, with absolutely no shred of a "safety net," for the first several generation.

Talk about "genes!" Give credit to the genetic heritage of those whom Billy Kristol insults.
