Heck, "Army veteran" just means that he finished one enlistment. For that matter, since they don't seem to be making much more of that fact, it's possible that he didn't even finish a full enlistment but still got out with good paper.
Being an Army retiree myself, I'll be the first to say that being called an "Army veteran" .. but not a "combat veteran" or "retiree" .. isn't too high of a bar.
Well, my Mom and Dad were WWII Veterans and raised us to love God and Country. . .but I guess that didn’t happen in all Vets’ households back then either.
