The head of Apple, Tim Cook, is saying fake news is “killing people’s minds,” and the tech industry must do something to stop it.
We are going through this period of time right here where unfortunately some of the people that are winning are the people that spend their time trying to get the most clicks, not tell the most truth. It’s killing people’s minds, in a way. All of us technology companies need to create some tools that help diminish the volume of fake news. We must try to squeeze this without stepping on freedom of speech and of the press, but we must also help the reader. Too many of us are just in the ‘complain’ category right now and haven’t figured out what to do.

It’s only killing those minds that are already full of mush. Those of us who are smart enough to spot it are laughing in their faces.

Swipe to the left on the iphone and the news app is all super left wing news and you can’t change the news sources that it displays.

Fortunately, these super tech nerds without the controls of a totalitarian society are better at making billions than they are at molding public opinion.
Looks like he wants to concoct a conspiracy in restraint of trade.
The problem is with the board rooms of the corporations that publish or broadcast. They allow fake news and manufactured news to continue. Until they put a stop to their own media organizations creating and perpetuating fake news, it will continue.
Until the news agencies up their ethics and return to being news organizations, rather than propaganda organizations, their credibility will continue to sink. They think they are being sly, but that lost credibility and integrity will be next to impossible to regain.
In the near future, we will likely seem more print/web/broadcast news organizations going out of business.
The Internet is providing many superior alternatives — but a lot of junk, too.

We could end a bunch of fake news by closing the news departments of ABC, NBC, and CBS. And shutting down CNN completely.

It starts at the networks and goes all the way down to the TV stations in the smallest markets.
Here in Houston, one of the largest markets, all three network affiliated stations run the exact same stories every night. Just like the three networks do.
LBJ had three TVs going at once. Today he’d only need one.
I agree, all those phony “my hijab was pulled off by evil white monsters” stories do kill brain cells.
I can stop fake news in one second: Turn off the TV.
