Girgir had published in its latest edition a cartoon showing the bearded Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt, with his companions complaining and using vulgar curse words.

“The decision has been taken for the magazine to be closed and all the staff laid off because of the distasteful cartoon,” the publishers said in a statement on the magazine’s Facebook and Twitter feeds.

Huh, I thought the proper response was to behead them, not fire them.

Well, the day is young.

Well, I can’t understand what they’re saying. But it sounds as if Erdogan. who supports Muzzie terrorism and kicked the politics of Attaturk to the curb, is getting the staff fired not because they insulted Jews, but because they want Turkey to return to a more sectarian brand of politics, which it had before Erdogan ditched The Generals. In other words, it’s a chance to make the country more Muslim, while putting the blame on insulting Jews.

Matter of fact, I seem to remember that Exodus is full of Jews whining and complaining that God and Moses are giving them a hard time, and making them march 40 years through the desert, with the Promised Land nowhere in sight.

I don’t know whether this comic in any way resembles the Bible, but the Bible does give grounds for saying that the Jews needed a bit of straightening out before they reached the end of their journey.

It has been a while since I read the book of Exodus. As I recall, the Israelites were complaining about being hungry, so then bagels start appearing magically every morning. Then they complain that there’s no cream cheese.
