Maine+NH+VT= Whitopia.

3 very different political cultures. 3 very different tax regimes.

All ultra low crime. All minimal to no gun regulation.

Draw your own conclusions.

Truth must be outlawed because you have just proven that the truth is racist.

“Chicken or egg? I guess it really doesn’t matter, does it?”

It makes a hell of difference when you’re cooking or baking.

I find it odd that a leftist would calmly sit with a gun targeting squirrels. I thought leftists were all sympathetic to natural habitats, animals, and PETA.

"I always thought Maine was."

Over the last 8 years Maine has become a dumping ground for refugees. Particularly in areas near the trans-Atlantic airfields where our troop carriers refuel.

Vermont isn't very urban either. It's all country, and if you look at other areas of the country that are overwhelmingly rural, you find the same low rates of gun violence, regardless of racial composition.

So I see no need to draw racially-based inferences from the observation that Vermont is overwhelmingly White and has low rates of gun violence.

Vermont is also an open carry state, which is probably another factor in the low rates of violent crime...

Except for a few small cities which are very liberal, and full of ex-hippies and leftists, Vermont is very rural. The farmers and other locals tend to be a pretty low crime crowd, which may be due to the weather, or long term cultural factors.

In many areas people all know each other, and have for generations. It can take a long time to check out at a market since everybody catches up on the news with the cashier.

And of course an armed culture is a polite culture.

FBI gun crime stats lump whites and hispanics together. Some of this is due to the fact that ‘hispanic’ is a false construct. I have a buddy who is descended from Minorcan settlers in Florida over 300 years ago. He is clearly white, but counts as hispanic because of his surname.

Lumping hispanics and whites together also serves a political interest as it includes gun crimes by innercity gang bangers in the white category, thus shifting the stats closer to those of blacks.

If you could wave a magic wand and seize guns from all blacks, the gun murder rate would drop by about half. If you could filter out hispanic gang bangers, leaving mostly white America, the numbers wouldn’t be that much different from Vermont.

When I first met a fellow who became a good friend, he had just retired from a metro police department. He served from 1967 to 1992. Half jokingly, I asked him this: “When you first went on the force in ‘67 and you got a call from the city charity hospital that the ER had a young black guy who had been injured in a fight, it almost always turned out to be a knife wound. Right?” He answered: “Yep.”

Then I asked: “And in 1992, when you got that same call from that same hospital, it was a gunshot wound. Right?” He said: “Yep.”

The technology got better.

I grew up spending summers up in Springfield Vermont. All of my great uncles were WWII vets. C-Bees and Europe campaign one was in a glider unit. Some were saved by the french underground. I still have a german bayonet from one of my uncles. They were all Russian immigrants who walked down to sign up for once the news was out that we had been attacked. They hated Germans and Japs. Alwasy bought. They retured from the war and went to work in the machine factories which eventually all shut down due to the Japanese (go figure). They were mostly heavy drinkers and smokers and all lived to late 70s early 80s.

As a young boy i never heard them talk about the War but they loved their country and their freedom. It confused me that they woulf dwell in sucha liberal state anti American. These men for sure would have voted Trump.

When the state tried to impose taxes in them they found other ways around the system by buying goods from NH with cash and doing it under the cloak of dark. They seem to dispise anyone prying into their business but also wanted to know everyones business. Beautiful place but governed bu idiots.

I almost thought VT would vote Trump but the collegiate liberals own this state. Vermont is also purposely behind in tech, its the Seattle of the East coast, they want tourism but dont want you to move their.

I still cant figute it out. I now live in Texas, the real Vermont!!

Generally the type and number of available criminals, not gun laws, drive the crime stats.

The stuff they believe in only applies to you. They themselves are above the law, even above their own stated principles.

Several years ago, my son-in-law got a job in Vermont. He called the Vermont police from Massachusetts, told them he had a MA LTC, and asked what his next legal step was toward bringing his weapon to Vermont.

The LEO's reply was a classic:

"Son, just put it in your pocket and come on up. Welcome to Vermont!"

That’s clearly a Colt Python. Colt should have sued them for stealing the image of one of their iconic guns.

I grew up in PA, lived in San Diego for 23 yrs., moved to NC and stayed 12 yrs. and now live in Maine. my final destination.

Just to save many of you all the time and expense of a big move, believe me when I tell you that it’s just awful living up here! We have SNOW, almost 3 feet in the last week! It’s COLD most all the time and to top it off, people speak funny.

If you’re contemplating a move to Maine, don’t bother ‘cause it just ain’t worth it!
