Has he seen Mexico City’s skyscrapers and glittery airport, the growing middle class who fill vast malls and VIP cinemas? Roads, even in the poorer south, are no worse than in New York City. This is the second biggest economy in Latin America, an upwardly mobile, modern democracy of 120 million people, being dissed as a tin-pot, dust bowl loser

That’s all good, then they won’t have any problem when 15 million Mexicans come home for good.
They are coming, get ready.
It’s easy to have a booming middle class in a vibrant, glittery capital city when you export all your poverty.
Working down there, I had to fly into Mexico City. Toilets in the men’s room we’re broken, some removed and crap everywhere. Back roads are nasty with large potholes everywhere. Not sure which Mexico the author is describing but wasn’t what I saw the two years I worked there.
Pretty much what I was thinking. If the illegals are such wonderful hard-working people, seems as though their country would want them back.
If, on the other hand, the illegals really are disproportionately poor and criminal compared to the average population of Mexico, then maybe not so much.
No mention of Mexico City’s slums.
