Uber-liberal historians rating uber-liberal president. Predictable results.

BTW, this survey probably represents “peak Obama.” As his “achievements” are obliterated and he fades into history, he will assume his rightful place at the bottom of the list.

Of course, I don’t see academics/presidential historians becoming more conservative anytime soon, and Barry’s #1 retirement mission (other than getting richer) is protecting his legacy. So, it may take a while for his rating to begin to sink.

If they mean 12th in a random group of 12, I’ll buy THAT!

I’m quite certain these 91 “so called” historians are UBER Liberals from UBER LIBERAL schools ergo this ranking has ZERO credibility.

Silliness.

Let a generation pass before making any such assessments.

At that point, clearer heads will render a very different opinion: obama was the worst president in the entire history of the nation.

It was a rather rude awakening to me. I split my paragraphs; the guy I was referring to was the one trying to convince me of the study. I think one of our client’s employees married him. They were certainly dating when I left.

Jefferson Davis wanted war. The hotheads in Charleston wanted war.

Or they wanted Lincoln to just crumple up and give in to their demands.

Lincoln did what we expect any American president to do -- keep his oath to the Constitition and be firm in the face of threats.

They wanted to secede. Lincoln made it clear that he would not permit that, even if it required killing Americans and occupying sovereign states. That’s what inflamed those “hotheads”. He was a lot like a modern Progressive in his attitudes toward those whom he considered less enlightened.

And, the northern industrialists had a steady supply of desperate and poor Irish to work as rented and expendable near-slaves, so Lincoln had them at his back.

I always ask the “Johnny Rebs’’ a question: If the South had won the war would they have freed the slaves? I never get an answer to that one.

I actually put Obama fifth….

1. Lincoln, Reagan and Truman tied for first place
2. Sixteen Presidents tied for second place
3. Twenty-three other Presidents tied for third place
4. Jimmy Carter came in fourth, and ...
5. Obama was fifth.

Davis and his crew were exploiting the crisis to pull as many slave states out of the union as they could. They weren't opposed to killing Americans to get what they wanted. Lincoln was just determined not to give into them. The secessionists were the ones who wanted war and got it. That was before he tried to "occupy" any states.

He was a lot like a modern Progressive in his attitudes toward those whom he considered less enlightened.

That's the kind of BS one hears nowadays. Lincoln posed no immediate threat to the slave states when he took office. He proposed no changes to the internal affairs of the states. Slaveowners feared that if they stayed in the union after a Republican was elected slavery would eventually be abolished, so they pushed to get out.

And he left the nation divided in ways that persist even today, over 150 years later.

Almost everyone who doesn't think for himself believes that.

Seriously, sectionalism and hostility between south and north predates Lincoln by decades. If you want to find root cause of the animus you need look no further than the dhimmicrats of the day. Just like the current crop they were poor losers.

He did almost nothing to avoid the conflict or bring it to an early end.

He did everything except capitulate. Thank God he didn't.

Lincoln was not merely the greatest president the USA ever had, he was one of the greatest historical figures of all time. It is all well recorded in his speeches. That War was a long time coming. He was the right man at the right time. His number one priority was to preserve the Union. Unfortunately he was shot in the back of the head by a whacked-out southerner and never got to complete his second term. Y’all would be viewing him in a different light if he’d been able to bind the wounds. He’d have won you over. I have no doubt in my mind about that. The assassinater made the North come down that much harder on y’all during reconstruction. Tough sh*t. Y’all brought it on yourselves. There would be nothing left of the USA if it wasn’t for honest Abe.

Lincoln was a high powered railroad lawyer who, as President, became a tyrant.

Kinda skimpy on details aren’t we? Ever hear of the Lincoln Douglas debates? Of course you also are aware Lincolns first term was run during wartime?
