Disney’s most recent foray was something far less controversial, The Princess and the Frog, that made $104m domestic out of a $105m budget. They felt compelled to make a “black” film, for some reason. Okay, fine, black kids need a heroine, too.
Seriously, after the double whammy of John Carter (-$200m) and The Lone Ranger (almost as much), you would think that more sensible heads would prevail when they wanted to make a “statement” movie out of a profitable franchise.
all they need to do is break even domestically, because international, redbox and tv revenues will take it to the black..
With all those bombs coming out of Disney studios, why does the board and CEO still have jobs?...............
