PHOENIX - A judge, not a jury will decide guilt or innocence in former Sheriff Joe Arpaio's criminal contempt case.
The order issued Wednesday by United States District Court Judge Susan Bolton grants the government's request for a trial in front of a judge.
Arpaio requested a jury to decide whether he should be convicted of a criminal contempt-of-court charge for disobeying a court order in a racial profiling case.

I remember a key quote from the 70’s movie “Rollerball” by Jonathan T., the character played by James Caan: “There are no rules.”

No “jury of his peers” will decide, huh?

Sheriff Joe has few peers, especially in the Judiciary.

There used to be a quaint rule:
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed
Apparently, the Ctrl-Left found that constraint inconvenient.

The globalist ‘0dunga defender’ leftists are trying to throw Arpaio in prison before he releases the goods on 0dunga’s FAKE pedigree.
To: Pollster1
He already has grounds for appeal.

And don’t tell me, let me guess.....this was a ruling by a Leftist judge and Arpaio will appear before a Leftist judge. Do I win a prize??

So much for my legal knowledge. I thought the defendant got to choose between judge or jury.

Pardon Time?
It was the Trump-Sessions Justice Department that requested the bench trial.

Under Arizona statute, the right to a jury trial is limited in misdemeanor cases such as this.
