It’s a genuine sport in snowy areas, like upstate NY. A snow shoe looks a little like an extended, oval shaped tennis racquet with an upturned toe and a foot clamp in the middle. It spreads the wearer’s weight across a fairly large area, allowing the wearer to shuffle across deep snow instead of sinking into it. I’m in TN now, but come from IL, MI, and WI.
