On Fox and Friends today, Ed Klein dropped another bombshell. Apparently, the FBI is going to be investigating the NSA and the Trump wiretapping. Key segment starts about 21:55.

"What I am saying now is the FBI is looking in to whether the NSA did something illegal. And if so, you're going to have a war not only between the Intelligence community and the administration, but within the Intelligence community."

If what Klein is saying is true, a civil war has erupted within the deep state apparatus.

Perhaps Comey had to decide if he was going to continue to serve those parts of government that are doing Obama's bidding, or whether to serve the sitting President of the United States and his administration.

I deliberately held off on criticizing Comey very much last year even when a lot of folks here were calling for his scalp. I strongly suspected that something was going on behind the scenes, and that he was basically in a position where he couldn't do the right thing until after he knew who would win the election ... because the definition of "the right thing" would depend on which candidate was inaugurated in January 2017.

This is why I am not surprised that Trump kept him on board.

1. With each passing hour I am getting more and more certain that Trump knew all about the Obama administration surveillance even while the surveillance was ongoing.

2. If that were the case, then there's a half-decent chance that "rogue" (good guy) FBI agents or other national security and/or law enforcement people were the ones who leaked the details of it.
