Consider the source and the exact words NYT is using here.
Ok, it’s the tortured use of the english language....look closely....words mean different things for liars...
“...reject President Trumps assertion that President Barack Obama ordered the tapping of Mr. Trumps phones...”
Yes, I see no verifiable source for the statement. #FAKENEWS
They are trying to be sneaky
This is not good folks.
Trump probably overreached by saying Obama ordered the tap.
Perhaps he should have said his administration which is much easier to prove.
Exactly right. Words have meanings.
Exactly, look at the words. President Trump never said that Obama “ordered” the wire tap in any of the Sat a.m. tweets. And, even if Obama never ordered it, it is unlikely that such a wire tap would have been sought through the FISA court without Obama’s approval.
Also, by his statement isn’t Comey confirming that there was a wire tap, just that it wasn’t ordered by Obama?
Yep. Time to belay conclusions. The NYT is demonstrated liars, but who knows, this report might be true.
The source of the story is in the first line of the original story, called “senior American officials”.
Never heard that one, before.
It probably wasn’t an FBI wiretap, per se. More likely it was NSA intercepts of satellite communications. Comey might not know about that, or he does and he’s answering the question very narrowly. Kinda like Bill Clinton parsing the word ‘is’.
Ummm, yeah. Those ‘senior officials’ have been very chatty. Yet, Comey mysteriously refuses to make the statement himself.
But—Clueless Clapper, muslim convert and known liar hedges with ‘not to the best of my knowledge ‘.
Named sources in positions in which they would have information declined to comment.
All of which leads to only one possible conclusion—the NYT rehired Jayson Blair.
In January the NY Times reported “The F.B.I. is leading the investigations, aided by the National Security Agency, the C.I.A. and the Treasury Departments financial crimes unit. [] One official said intelligence reports based on some of the wiretapped communications had been provided to the White House.”
