It’s Not Interference with DOJ Independence for White House to Ask for FISA Information
National Review ^ | March 5, 2017 | Andrew C. McCarthy

In my earlier post, I explained that the Obama camp is disingenuously responding to revelations that, during the presidential campaign, the Obama administration conducted an investigation, including wiretapping, against Trump associates and perhaps Donald Trump himself. As I elaborated, one avenue of response is to conflate the Justice Department’s two missions – law-enforcement and national security. We can see this strategy playing out in the New York Times coverage of the controversy.

Thank you for posting a very important article. We need to see it every day to understand the misdirection of the NYT and the language they are using to needlessly set our hair on fire.

McCarthy does a bang up job explaining the president’s right to FISA information, the PURPOSE of FISA, which belongs to the president as aid to governing.

DOJ is executive branch. The president is the chief executive. He may see any work product they have. There is nothing that DOJ may hide from the president. Nor DOD, intel agencies, etc.

Nothing in the executive branch can be legally hidden from the elected leader and head of the executive branch.

Yeah, and a prosecutor doesn’t have to be “even handed” or “see both sides.”

Which is what the Democrats are going to use to object to whatever Special Prosecutor is selected to handle Obamagate.

They are going to make it out that whoever gets the job is “not objective” or “has pre-judged the case.” As if the prosecutor has to function as the judge in order to be “fair.”

I would think that any citizen who is the object of a FISA investigation ought to be told of such...it’s the right to face your accuser.

Well, because it is a surveillance operation, no, they would not inform you, I think. However, McCarthy states that FISA is actually an aid to the president, which is its *purpose*, he said, and it should be looked at that way.

His beef was the NYT referring to it as a “judicial” insult of some sort that President Trump would seek to see all their records, when actually it is his right as a president to appreciate the work of FISA investigations, looking at spies, etc., in our country.

How Obama used these agencies and their tools, like FISA, is of grave concern, going after civilians like TRUMP was, during the campaign, and laying a trap for him should he become president.

I think we are going to find out they have nothing on Trump or his surrogates unless it is manufactured.

That makes no sense. It is surveillance, a wire tap. If you tell the target you listening to their phone calls, it defeats the purpose of a warrant. Good grief. Let others figure this out...please.
