Speaking on Fox News Wednesday afternoon, U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas (A, 98%) dismissed concerns that Republicans cannot fully repeal Obamacare with the budget reconciliation process under what Gohmert derogatorily referred to as the KKK rule, an arcane part of Senate procedure called the Byrd rule, named for the late Sen. Robert Byrd.
Gohmert argued that Republicans are hiding behind Senate procedure to cover for their inaction on Obamacare repeal.
We need to at least be as bold as we were in 2015, Gohmert told Happening Now host Jon Scott, referring to a bill passed by Congress in 2015 to fully repeal Obamacare. That bill was vetoed by President Obama.
Republican leadership is pitching health care reform in different phases, claiming that the entirety of the law cannot be repealed with budget reconciliation. Gohmert claims this is inaccurate, and that the rule ostensibly preventing full repeal and replace of Obamacare has not prevented Congress from enacting health care reforms before. After all, the Democrat Party used budget reconciliation to pass the entirety of the Affordable Care Act.
Anyway, it seems like the Byrd rule, or KKK rule, whatever it is they call it now in the Senate It seems more like a rule that lets them say we cant do that because the Byrd rule or whatever, Gohmert said.
Byrd, a Democrat from West Virginia, was a racist member of the Ku Klux Klan. In 1942, he recruited 150 people to a new chapter of the KKK in Sophia, West Virginia. Later in life, Byrd would renounce his association with the Klan, explaining "I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times ... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened."
This is not the first time Rep. Gohmert has mentioned Sen. Byrds sordid history in conversation over the rule that bears his name.

But Gohmerts point is that Republicans cannot let an arcane Senate rule which is in their power to change as the majority party prevent them from fully repealing Obamacare.
If we don't get the more important parts of Obamacare repealed, whats really critical is the prices of the insurance won't go down. The deductibles won't go down. It will still be hurting Americans, Gohmert warned.
We have to do the right thing and repeal as much of Obamacare as it takes to bring the prices down and to give the patients more choices in what they do.
Its just unaffordable right now, he added.

The Republicans have the courage of Patton when they sent a repeal of Obamacare to Barak Hussein knowing he would veto it. Now we have a President who will sign it and the cowards won’t resend the same bill. It’s not easy being a conservative, they are now as always their own worst enemy.
I agree with him wholeheartedly.
Exactly.
The Spinelss Wonders have to strike while the iron is hit
Republican and conservative, if they were ever grouped as one and the same, have LONG been separate.
I DON’T KNOW what republicans stand for anymore.
SLAM!!! That’s how you deal with these cowards in congress
Excellently put. Thank you. “COWARDS” is right.
Louie Gohmert is right,
This bill is a n Insurance Lobby bill so they can regain their former command position in national healthcare.
No way we should re-surrender national health care to the Insurance companies. They enjoy state-centric monopolies.
Make the Insurance companies compete with each other, lift the state line restriction NOW.
If not, the GOP will become a joke. So will president Trump.
It's like he's forgetting the people who voted for him.
There really is no difference between the KKKRats and the Republicans...we should quit fooling ourselves.
Though I agree to a large extent, they still were/are important for cabinet appointees and judges, esp. SCOTUS.
But budget wise? obamacare? Forget about it.
I dont know why RINOs keep beating real conservative primary folk in the senate runs.
Open primaries or ‘vote splitting’. Here in Tennessee; several conservatives run in the primaries, they split the vote, and the moderate/RINO sneaks thru.
Gohmert is right!
Ryan is just a FratBoy in the PHI BETA RINO fraternity, and and his fellow RINOs just want a Toga party.
OPEN has got to go!!! it makes no sense!!!!
Vote splitting is just crazy!
We need a strong leader to tell those who have no chance of winning to get the hell out of the race.
I recently came across a James Madison quote that I can’t put aside. Paraphrasing:
The really great danger to liberty in the extended American republic is that each individual may become insignificant in his own eyes - hitherto the very foundation of republican government.
As it happened, I voted for Trump last November but left blank the congressional portion of ballot. I’ll never vote rat, but that doesn’t mean I have to vote GOP.
Without knowing, it appears I exemplified Madison’s fear. The republic might be beyond salvation when someone like me, who, over a long life, never missed an election, decides he will no longer participate in the charade of supposedly representative, Constitutional government.
I can’t speak for other states, but in MS it was because they openly cheated and lied their azzes off, paid ‘rat voters to vote in the run-off against the conservative candidate Chris McDaniel, smeared him, and put their support behind a senile old fool, Thad Cochran, who can’t even find his way around Congress without a guide. The GOPe really came out in the open in that race, and I will neither forget nor forgive. Haley Barbour, amongst others, took the mask off.
This is all anyone needs to know. If the GOP doesn't pass an ObamaCare replacement bill that actually fixes the sh!t that is pissing people off in this country, then they ought to leave ObamaCare in place and let it go down in flames.
Almost spit out my coffee.... Sounds like Hannity. Lol.
I believe, the President promised to repeal and replace the ACA with something "fantastic". Mr. Trump seems to live more for "the deal" rather than pure conservative principles.
President Trump through his Secretary of HHS working with the Congress is scrapping Obamacare and providing the replacement the people desired.
