AG Sessions open to using outside counsel to probe Obama DOJ

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said he would consider having outside counsel review actions taken by the Justice Department under the Obama administration — including an examination of charges that the IRS was engaging in politically-motivated investigations, and a probe of the department’s handling of an investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.

In an interview Thursday with conservative radio show host Hugh Hewitt, the attorney general was asked whether he might investigate how the Justice Department was run under his predecessors, Attorneys General Loretta Lynch and Eric Holder.

“How about an outside counsel, not connected to politics, to review the DOJ’s actions in those matters with authority to bring charges if underlying crimes are uncovered in the course of the investigation, and just generally to look at how the Department of Justice operated in the highly-politicized Holder-Lynch years?” Mr. Hewitt asked in the interview, according to transcripts.

“Well, I’m going to do everything I possibly can to restore the independence and professionalism of the Department of Justice,” Mr. Sessions said. “So we would have to consider whether or not some outside special counsel is needed. Generally, a good review of that internally is the first step before any such decision is made.”

Special Prosecutor is the only way to go. Not all charges would be the same so a Special Prosecutor for each charge and person. And now is the time for this to start. These criminals will be so busy the MSM will have to cover.

How about Rudy Guliani as Special Prosecutor? He would be tough and thorough. Let the Libs bitch and moan. He will clean house if nobody interferes.

How about investigating donors to Obama’s presidential library for favors received?

Do Special Prosecutors have to be identified as such to the public? I ask, because any person named as being a S.P. investigating Obama would probably be putting their lives or at least professional reputation at great risk. Perhaps this sort of risk cannot be avoided.

I’m hopeful that someone qualified and tough would accept the challenge anyway.
Such an imbalance of power has happened before; recall the story of David and Goliath. For that matter, recall the story of Donald Trump vs the GOPe, Socialists, Greens, Anarchists and Globalists.

What if the outside counsel was Mark Levin?

IIRC, he was chief of staff for Ed Meese. He might be a killer as outside counsel.

So, at every tough turn, Sessions recuses or abandons his job!?
This is not what the people want. We want a hammer to nail the criminals the the wall!

Sessions is doing his job. I suspect that the internal review will find some serious problems. What better way to get public buy-in and mute Dem opposition than bringing in someone from the outside to make it "non-partisan"?

Mute Dem opposition? They'll go ballistic... they know the DOJ is corrupt, and they want it to stay that way.

These recusals are one-sided nonsense. This is not a trial. No need to recuse in an investigation, as long as all can have their say and all the evidence gathered is open to inspection. Republicans are fooling themselves if they think that a show of impartiality will impress the media.

Correction — Sessions would not be acting as a trier of fact (a judge, hearing examiner, juror, etc.).

“What if the outside counsel was Mark Levin?”

I have to say, that is a brilliant idea.

Can you imagine the squirming and squealing of the guilty, treasonous political class if Levin took the job?

We could expect to see some writhing on the ground and foaming at the mouth. And that’s just from him being appointed special prosecutor. When he brought indictments, heads would explode — literally.

BTTT

I actually forgot until someone reminded me that Rudy is supposedly advising on cybersecurity. I don’t know if he is really doing that or that was just meant to give a boost to his consulting business. However, I don’t think someone who worked as a surrogate on Trump’s campaign should be considered.
