Because you have higher taxes on gasoline?

When in the southeast I always buy gas in the states surrounding Florida because of the price.

For years it was why will Jeb not drill was another remark. Today it is taxes?

Close to $3.00?

Here in the rural Rocky Mountains, usually more expensive than the nearby city, gas is about $2.20.

I paid $2.11 yesterday in Kansas, and I think $0.43 of that is tax. I think, relative to inflation, gas prices have not really gone up too much over the last 40 years...especially when the tax is taken out of the equation.

Wholesale gas price is $1.46. Much of the difference between that and your pump price is taxes.

Many refineries are switching from winter blends to summer blends.

“Why is gas at the pump close to $3.00???”

Because, due to the ‘environmentalists’ America hasn’t been allowed to build a refinery in over 30 years.

A quick search for California where I live:
California, 58.83 cents per gallon. The bulk of the Golden State’s gas taxes comes from its excise tax of 30 cents per gallon. The state also collects a 2.25% sales tax on gasoline, plus applicable district taxes.

Breakdown on the actual tax and not the posted one.
