European Court justifies banning Muslim headscarf in workplace

The European Court of Justice ruled on Tuesday that companies would not be liable for direct discrimination if they put in place a general ban on employees from wearing religious garb such as the Islamic hijab (headscarf).

“An internal rule of an undertaking which prohibits the visible wearing of any political, philosophical or religious sign does not constitute direct discrimination,” the court stated.

“Accordingly, such an internal rule does not introduce a difference of treatment that is directly based on religion or belief,” the court stated. “The rule thus treats all employees of the undertaking in the same way, notably by requiring them, generally and without any differentiation, to dress neutrally.”

Hate to bust the EU court's bubble, but this is plain stupid. Suppressing all free expression in the workplace is irrelevant at best, and besides, totally unnecessary.

Anecdotally, today I spent the entire morning at Hadassah with my granddaughter, who is nine and still the same height as when she was five. They were testing her blood over a prolonged period, to see if her pituitary was producing its own growth hormone. This required her to fast from midnight of the previous night on, and to have an IV insert placed in her arm. She was horrified, and much of the work that the staff does is to calm children in this ward down so that they will tolerate the IV insert and other such invasions that are highly suspect to young children. On the staff were two women, both dressed in hijabs, and they were absolutely golden, with Jewish and Arab children alike, speaking Hebrew to the former and Arabic to the latter, and the hijab if anything was irrelevant at worst and helpful in some cases. I could understand forbidding burkhas, which cover the whole face, but an Islamic woman's hijab and a Jewish woman's babushka are identically innocuous and should be allowed.

Why don't the You're-a-peons focus on forcing rioters to remove the kefiyas they wrap around their faces when throwing stones and firebombs, and leave honest working people alone.

A private business should be able to hire who they want, and serve who they want. They should be able to make their own rules on what their employees can and cannot wear.

Sure. But a private company shouldn’t act like a dumbass, either. The court is defending the right of a private company to forbid its employees to be themselves. They can do that, I suppose, but it’s a bad policy for a private company. They have a right to go out of business and lay everyone off, too, or to run up expenses ‘til the company goes bankrupt. They can also run advertising campaigns saying that their products cause the Big C and foot fungus, and warning the public to never ever buy it.

Why don't the You're-a-peons focus on forcing rioters

The only intelligent solution is to implement the ALL Muslims are terrorist response.

Some Muslim will kill you by cutting off your head. Some will shoot you.

Other Muslims will not kill you but they will participate in social jihad. That is where they support the violent terrorists but they also support the overthrow of western governments so their Sharia Law can be implemented. At that point, they can have the state kill you.

All Muslims are commanded to kill you by their Holy Koran. Some will, some won't but all will work to enslave you in a Muslim hell that will make you wish you were dead.
