Undoubtedly that’s true...but many can’t pay because as soon as they are released and before they can try to find a job, the cops re-arrest them for not paying (while they were in prison for not paying the first time). For some men it may be a racket...they get so prison habituated...as soon as they get out, they go to the cops and say...arrest me again, I haven’t paid my child support. So they end up in prison again. Now how is that helpful to families he need child support?

they go to jail, not prison and it is a contempt thing. As soon as the court has their attention they get out so they can work.
