Democrats don’t talk about reaching across the aisle or compromise. The talk about destroying their opposition. The GOP talks about surrendering when they have the upper hand. At first it seems to make little sense. Then you realize that they really agree with the democrats on everything but they lie to get into office. If they can find an excuse to enact liberal legislation, they will do it. Dems, on the other hand, will take advantage of this always BUT would rather hold power themselves. Once they have it, they may talk about reaching across the aisle again, but only to provide air cover to republicans. They will not change one iota of anything to accommodate them. And the GOP won’t ask them to.
