Acording to Bartleby.com: here is the actual Kennedy quotation: "There’s an old saying that victory has 100 fathers and defeat is an orphan." However, that is not correct, according to William Safire, who wrote: " 'Victory has a THOUSAND fathers, but defeat is an orphan' was 'made famous" by President Kennedy 'as he assumed responsibility for the Bay of Pigs fiasco.' The disastrous Bay of Pigs invasion occurred in 1961.

Safire and another source pinpoint an earlier use by the Italian diplomat Count Ciano, in 1942, when Italy was allied with Germany in World War II. His diary renders it as follows, in Italian: " La victoria trova cento padri, e nessuno vuole riconoscere l'insuccesso" --- Note the word "cento", which means "a hundred".

But note also that President Kennedy said that this is "an old saying". It's quite likely that the origin of this phrase is unknown and lost to history.

  •  The quote become no longer from Kennedy, yet Galeazzo Ciano, son-in-regulation of Benito Mussolini and Italian overseas Minister (1937-1943). Kennedy's speech author stole the words from Ciano's diary revealed in 1946(?) The quote signifies that if a project is a fulfillment absolutely everyone lines up and should be linked with it. If it really is a failure, each and each person runs away and denies that that they had something to do with it.. Ciano become writing about the conflict in North Africa and the Italians undesirable overall performance adverse to a much smaller British military.

I kinda like the idea that any healthcare bill the gov't considers MUST apply to any and all Congressional and gov't employees.

This is quite simple to do.

The gov't needs to get OUT of the medical business totally!

If 'CHOICE' is good for abortion; then it should be good for folks who want a CHOICE in their helpcare.

The first point is whether to have it or not!
