“You probably have the right mindset if you live in NY.
Down here, if they break in they’re presumed to be armed and they’re paid for if they’re wearing masks or if they outnumber you.”
My answer was not based on legal considerations but rather on moral ones. I would rather not kill someone unnecessarily. That being said if one or more intruders enter my house with a weapon they will be considered a deadly threat and handled accordingly.
Cool. I didn’t mean to lecture you moralistically; apologies if I made it sound that way.

The fact that anyone in the group had swords modifies the “that is enough” statement. Christ would have had the swords gotten rid of if he was as pacifist as “nerf ball” people make him out to be.
Well, your vote makes three of us. I have found this to be a rare insight among fellow Christians but the issue is secondary to Christ Jesus’ primary message: Love one another as I have loved you. Perhaps too, it logically follows that if the apostles just let their many enemies kill them, it would have been impossible to get on with the great commission.

No problem at all. When I lived in TX I attended a lecture about home defense laws given by an attorney. According to him it is justified to kill someone for something as small as stealing the newspaper off your front lawn. That was unbelievable after living somewhere that you could be prosecuted for not retreating as far as possible before shooting an attacker. Too bad it wasnt justifiable to shoot my neighbor for keeping his rusty, parted out pickup on the front lawn of the duplex we shared. :-)
Actually, I'm a closet fan of that commie round. It has better terminal ballistics, given the right bullet, than it has a right to have. An AR in 7.62x39, or even an old commie rifle, might be a fine self-defense gun. But I do worry about overpenetration more than with a .223 rifle.
