Sorry, but the issue is not one of substance, but of process. The Reps had 7 years to develop a consensus on the bill. They failed to do so. They also failed to use the power of the purse despite controlling the House since 2011. The GOP helped make over 100 fixes to Obamacare thru legislation.

The fact is that many Reps, perhaps your Congressman in a "moderate" district, favor mending, not ending Obamacare. It was a useful target to attack politically when they had little power to overturn it. Now that they do, they come up with excuses about a bad bill.

I have read the entire bill. There are lots of good things in it that need to be passed. It is not perfect. Take a look at sections 101 to 251. What's not to like?

It’s not a question of whether there was anything to like in this bill. But even with this bill they estimated that there would be 20% increases in health insurance premiums over the next two years. My representative probably would have lost his seat if that number was 0% and might have been able to keep it if that number was -5%. That’s why nobody wanted to pass this bill. It would have been a political disaster on that basis alone.
