So with only 1 insurer in those eight states, what happens?

Is that a monopoly and trust me, I have seen that one insurers plan this year...and it sucks. Truly if one is struggling financially and gets sick/hurt (hospitalized) the deductible alone puts one in the poor house.

Will ala carte services become the new normal for people in those states? Vastly more affordable right?

All those people forced onto one single plan? It simply doesn’t work. Will it force congress to amend the law so one can shop across state lines? Hmmm....what a way to overcome the 0bamacare act...opening up the market through forced collapse?
