Time for immediate implementation in ALL vehicles to disable all phone functions when the motor starts. If you want to use your cell phone pull off the road.
BS. Cell phone use saves lives. Think about ease of 3rd parties calling EMS if there is an accident. Think about GPS on cell phones and its use as a navigation aid.
A penalty for distracted driving is fine though.
“Time for immediate implementation in ALL vehicles to disable all phone functions when the motor starts.”
I’m the chief operator of a public utily. I’m always on call. If the problem can be handled by phone, I pull over. If not, I simply say “I’m on my way” and hang up. What about doctors, etc?
I don't support that but I believe it will eventually happen. The next step will be self -driving cars and then everyone will be able to text to their hearts content.
Nonsense. Passengers using cell phones don't cause accidents. As tragic as this event was, knee jerk legislation is never the answer.
Some vehicles already have that feature for the driver.
What about passengers?
And if a vehicle program shuts down the drivers phone which the vehicle is programed to and while the vehicle is in drive, it would stop a driver from using that phone.
But what would stop the driver from just purchasing a 2nd phone for the car?
