Given reports of Gorsuch’s weird church affiliation, which is concerning, I don’t think the Democrats are going to get a candidate from Trump that they will be happier with.
I won’t lose any sleep if Gorsuch isn’t confirmed, but if he isn’t I hope Trump nominates a better candidate with solid Christian values.
Of course not. The Dems won't be happy with any nomination, nor any legislation that comes from Republicans. They would just keep moving the bar--in effect, leading the show from the minority position that they're in.
Washington, D.C. -U.S. Senator Susan Collins spoke from the Senate Floor this morning (3/28/17) to express her support for the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to be a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
>>Rush may be recalling her reluctance to endorse him prior to the hearings on his confirmation.
What is weird about him attending 2 churches? This is very common with spouses of two different denominations.
And why would you assume he doesn’t hold solid Christian values? Was he ever General Council for Planned Parenthood, or Emily’s List, or the DNC?
Its not like he’s a snake handler or worships the color blue.
Democrats want to deny any of the Judges on Trump’s list because it’s Trump’s list, which from their view makes sense for them.
I just hope this is a Scalia, because there has been more than two times when Republican’s so called conservative Justice nominee in action was liberal or left of center.
The problem for the Democrats is huge. What has happened is, Trump has staked out many positions that Democrats once held. So, Democrats must cast Trump as some sort of madman so that their opposition to every single thing Trump does makes some kind of sense.
Democrats have no power, and if Trump succeeds with his agenda, Democrats will be in that proverbial wilderness for many years to come.
Democrats only hope if they can’t stop Trump’s agenda is to stake out the extreme left, as they have been doing, and wait for the population demographic shift along with indoctrination by public schools to combine to make the extreme left acceptable.
Thank you. I’ve pointed this out as an indication that Gorsuch is likely to be more John Roberts than Scalia. At least one poster thinks we shouldn’t consider such things, but Obamalini’s membership in Rev Wright’s church spoke volumes about what to expect from him.
GOPe Republicans, too. They’re at the $$$$ trough, too
“I think Susan Collins has signaled to the Republicans shes gonna vote against him, which, believe me, makes no sense, just absolutely no sense. “
Rush missed on this one.
Gorsuch - A member of an Episcopal Church. Mother was Catholic. Growing up, he attended Catholic schools. Choice of church probably reflects a joint decision by him and his wife.
Current make-up of the Supreme Court: 5 Catholics and 3 Jews.
Trump could nominate a Ginzborg clone, and the Democrats would not support her.
If the GOP does not confirm Gorsuch by any means necessary, then the posture on Garland last year was meaningless.
That could very well be.
I think the “weirdness” is that, IIRC, the minister of his Episcopal church is a lesbian woman.
Evangelical Christians who follow the Bible strictly have a problem with both “lesbian” and “woman minister”.
That could very well be. I can’t imagine any Republican voting against him.
If they go nuke, DJT should put Sarah Palin on the short list, better yet Steve Bannon.
Watch the heads explode then.
A Failure to nominate Gorsuch will be a big deal.
it isn’t about Gorsuch, it is about President Trumps ability to move his agenda forward.
Democrats would tout a Gorsuch nomination failure as a Trump defeat, a weakening of his presidency and a victory over the republican majorities in the house and senate.
They will become even more intransigent and unbearable, if that is possible.
