GLENDALE, Ariz. — There certainly are legitimate reasons to hate North Carolina basketball, and thus this particular collection of Tar Heels who defeated the Gonzaga Bulldogs for the 2017 NCAA championship on Monday night at University of Phoenix Stadium.
That’s not your problem with them, though. Is it? Michael Powell of The New York Times wrote this week a scathing column about North Carolina athletics and its involvement in the scandal in the university’s African and Afro-American Studies department in the years leading up to 2011, a series of activities that have been investigated by the NCAA since 2014 without resolution to date. Powell stopped short of saying the Heels should not be here. Fox Sports’ Stewart Mandel wrote that although coach Roy Williams expresses frustration at the case’s protracted timeline, “perhaps he should also feel a bit grateful for the opportunity it provided.”

I could make an argument that they shouldn’t have been there; if they’d received the penalties they deserved, chances are many of this year’s players would have went somewhere else.
But the media is slaved to their narratives...Duke/North Carolina good, Memphis/Kentucky bad.
Facts are just inconvenient items to be overlooked when necessary.
Well, I was rooting for Gonzaga, but let’s be honest.
During the final game, they stunk up the joint.
I don’t know if they were tired or what, but they stunk up the joint..... ton of turnovers, ton of missed shots.
After watching the Gonzaga players watch the second half from the bench because of foul trouble. I wonder if Unc got some other favors. I’m an Acc fan most of the time during the tournament.
