“I suspect there won’t be many comments on this thread. A whole bunch of Freepers who were venting about a betrayal by the GOP on this are probably getting medical attention for their anxiety and angst over the last few days.”

you got that right. I for one never doubted McConnell when he repeatedly stated multiple times a couple of weeks ago that Gorsuch WOULD be confirmed on 4/7/2017.

but you’re right about the nattering nabobs of negativism coming from all the nevertrumper trolls now masquerading as concern trolls.

I never doubted Gorsuch getting confirmed. Even the Democrats know that they would not prevail in getting a conservative replaced with someone not conservative. There was a lot of posturing, but the outcome was never in doubt.

A lot of folks on this site do not like McConnell, but I am pretty ambivalent about him. I'm not sure I trust him completely, but I don't have a lot of complaints about how he's managed Senate affairs as the GOP leader.

I'll tell you one thing that really moved him up a few notches in my book, though ...

John McCain made a pathetic statement today about how the "nuclear option" would be terrible for this country ... after he had already voted to exercise it. McConnell did a masterful job of keeping every Senate Republican in line on this one.
