I think he’ll let putin pick his puppet. And let them own it with full responsibility for the outcome.

Oh crap.

Either Assad is so damned bad that both the Globalists and the Populists agree on him, or President Trump has moved a little closer to the Globalists.

Either way, this is just not something we should do.

With the possibility of a nuclear war with a pissed-off Russia, my barometer for right and wrong is: If Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John McCain want something, IT IS VERY WRONG TO DO.

Accept sometimes we Americans all agree on something, or nearly all of us. For example, WWII and the Cold War that followed were nearly unanimously supported by all Americans.

There is still reason to doubt Assad even did this. Trump of 2013 - hell the Trump of the entire campaign would frown upon such actions.

If Assad did it, I’m not necessarily opposed to removing him if it is not done militarily (would be difficult). However, Russia, who said their support was not unconditional, may have played a part in removing if it was proven - very unlikely - but now likely impossible. Now Russia is obviously ticked. The original intent was to work with Russia and allow Assad to take out ISIS because we don’t know who these rebels are with radical Islamic terrorists among these people. You have to ensure that the person you put in place is not worse than Assad, not a Islamic extremist, wants to fight ISIS, and will not lead to more unrest. Leader change in the Middle East never goes well.

There are risks and there are tradeoffs. It’s hard to see how assad can ever rule there without problems. A less vile man with a desire to kill ISIS and reach an accord with those who want some say in the government is not an unreasonable idea.

I don’t get why so many are upset by this. We already have hundreds and hundreds of US Military in Syria. They have been there for at least two years. A chemical attack occurred on Trump’s watch. The source was identified. The source was dealt with in no uncertain terms. This is bad why?

More like US, Russia, Israel, Jordan, EU, UK, etc. all agree Assad and ISIS has to go.

It makes absolutely no sense for Assad to use chemical weapons. I’m thinking forces opposed to Assad did this.

Escalating military action in Syria puts hundreds and hundreds of US Military in Syria in increased danger and it is not clear at all who passed the gas. Going to war, possibly multinational war based on not all the facts is bad.

Not if it’s done right. I’d say putin is going to pick a pliable front man who will fight ISIS.

You are right. Trump should pull them out pronto, just like Obama pulled us out of Iraq. After all, what is the point?

There are two societies living in Syria. One is in the 21st Century with ladies hair showing and well educated men going to work, kids playing in the swimming pool, etc. etc.

The other is in the 7th century with religious police beating women for an ankle showing, 9 years old brides, dancing boy rapes and beheadings.

Guess which side WE decided to bomb?

Fighting ISIS/Al Qaeda is the point and we just attacked the guy who was doing that in Syria.

Really? It’s that simple and that Manichean? So assad represent the forces of light and all others are darkness.
