I visit a buddy there whenever I can. There are areas there that are like driving through Tijuana Norte. Two blocks off the main drag I stepped into a store, and was the only English speaker (of about 25 people) in the place.

The staff of the Arctic Circle (burger chain) are 2/3 latino. Yet the best Mexican breakfast I’ve ever had outside Mexico was at a white-bread restaurant about 8 blocks from aforementioned store, go figure!

We have areas like that in the DC suburbs of Maryland, such as the shopping center at University Boulevard and New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park.
