2017-04-10 11:31:01

[Busan=Newsis] Ha Kyung-min = Navay Operations Command Headquarter announced on Apr. 10 that a guided missile cruiser 'Varyag'(11,000 tons) and a logistics support ship 'Pechenga'(11,000 tons,) both belonging to Russian Pacific Fleet, will arrive at Busan Operation Base in Namku, Busan.

Varyag is 187m long, 20.8m wide, and has 530 crews. The ship is armed with 16 P-500 Bazalt antiship missiles, 64 S-300 long-range antiaircraft missiles, an AK-130 130mm gun, and a Ka-25(or 27) helicopter.

Pechenga is 130m long, 20m wide, and has 63 crews. She can carry 7,000 tons of oil, 300 tons of fresh water, and 1,500 tons of cargoes.

Their visit is part of regular exhange visit, and they will stay until Apr. 14 to have friendship activities with S. Korean navy ships and joint volunteer works, according to the Headquarter.

This is the second time Russian warships visited Navay Operations Command , the first being the visit of an Udaloy class destroyer 'Admiral Tributs' (6,955 tons,) and a logistics support ship 'Boris Butoma' (7,150 tons.)

This may be a pre-scheduled routine visit, but they may be doing more than PR this time around.

Proof that Trump is colluding with the Russians through South Korean go-betweens.

From reading the article about how brief and brutal a war with NK would be, it seems pretty much like all Russia would do is get in the way of our “decapitation” strike.

I guess they’d be good for something though.

I’m not sure who’s on what team anymore :)

Per Wiki:

Busan Naval Base (also known as Jakjeon Naval Base) is a Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) base in Yongho-dong, Nam-Gu, Busan, South Korea.

The base became operational in 2007 when the ROKN relocated there from Jinhae Naval Base. Among the reasons for the relocation were speed restrictions around Jinhae which slowed access to and from the base.[1]

The base can accommodate up to 30 vessels of all sizes, including the largest ROKN ships and US Nimitz-class aircraft carriers.[2]

New Era of US, ROK Navy Alliance Begins in Busan

From Commander, Naval Forces Korea Public Affairs

BUSAN, Republic of Korea (NNS) — Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Korea (CNFK) conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Feb. 19, officially opening its headquarters in Busan and ushering in a new era of U.S. and Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) alliance.

The ceremony, attended by dignitaries and senior U.S. and ROK military leaders, marked the completion of CNFK’s relocation to Busan making it the only U.S. military headquarters in Korea located on a ROK base.

“Five years in the planning, but 59 years in the making, Commander Naval Forces Korea is home in Busan,” Rear Adm. Bill Byrne, commander of CNFK, said. “We are where we belong, shoulder-to-shoulder with the Republic of Korea Navy.”

The relocation from Seoul to Busan enhances the alliance between the ROK and U.S. navies by enabling closer collaboration and communication and reinforces the strong relationship between the partner navies.

I’m kind of glad that I didn’t buy into the Wall Street “Trump rally.”

Definitely, because we have.....um.....uh....something in common, I guess.

Republican governments? nah

Being/feeling surrounded by enemies. nah

Relying solely on oil to pay the bills. nah

Having honest elections. Well that one’s close :)

It’s also as far south of the border with NK as you can get within South Korea. Good new location for security.

It is a minor news item which is not on main media site.
There are copies of posts on non-news sites.
However, the article is in Korea.
This is the link to a copy posted on a local Major League Baseball site.

Thank you, TLR. One can find out through a study of history, that Russia has helped N. Korea with tactics and weapons buildups.

Better to have them visit S. Korea where the No. Korean’s wouldn’t attack, then have them act as naval shields in No. Korea to prevent any American attack.

in other worlds, we live in a crazy world.

Busan=Pusan. As in Pusan Perimeter. One of only 2 cities(?) that didn’t fall initially, during the Korean War. Maybe one of the safest places in Korean during the next war!!
