Iran's Long-exiled Prince Wants a Revolution in Age of Trump
VOA News ^

Reza Pahlavi, the son of the last shah to rule before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, has seen his profile rise in recent months following the election of U.S. President Donald Trump, who promises a harder line against the Shi'ite power.

Pahlavi's calls for replacing clerical rule with a parliamentary monarchy, enshrining human rights and modernizing its state-run economy could prove palatable to both the West and Iran's Sunni Gulf neighbors, who remain suspicious of Iran's intentions amid its involvement in the wars in Iraq, Syria and Yemen.

Not this time.

Obama dicked that up and I am not interested in supporting your little insurrection.

Iran was pretty Westernized before the revolution of the Barbarians.

I wish Carter had never been president.

When you think of the ripple effect of his idiocy, it has to cause you to be pretty upset.

There’s a certain symmetry to it, considering the U.S.’s tradition of cocking up the Middle East started with Iran back in the 50’s.

The late Shah was America’s greatest ally in the Mideast among the Arab (and Persian) nations and Jimmy Carter screwed that up royally, thus the miserable state of affairs in the Mideast today. If there were elections held in Iran today (that will never happen) Reza Pahlavi would win hands down. He would institute a western style electorate and then bow down and watch Iran return to it’s former glory. His father brought Iran into the 20th century and the Mullahs returned it to the 7th century.

Reza tried to get obozo to back the people in Iran in 2009. Obozo chose to say nothing and let a chance to get rid of the mullahs wither

If the Iranians want a revolution then that’s their own business. Any revolution seen as originating or enjoying significant American support would be rejected by patriotic Iranians and doomed to failure. National pride in one of the oldest nations in the world preclude any hope of success of the usual heavy-handed globalist and neoconservative techniques.

The Pahlavis were blood thirsty dictators.

The mullahs just appropriated the secret police and torture he had perfected.

The thought of a blockade would encourage revolution. 200k enforcers with guns. They would have to be killed. That’s how the Shah kept himself in power. Like Saddam.
