"It has become clear"--to whom, and how? Where is the research, the carefully controlled studies, that show that preventing boys from developing normally leads to overall positive outcomes? I'm going to surmise that since the practice is so new (and is an offshoot of the Obama administration's negative effect on the culture), there are *no* studies that adequately document long-term effects. I doubt there are any studies yet that even document short-term effects.
Just because a boy shows interest in some activities that traditionally are "girl" activities does not mean that he "identifies" as a girl. Furthermore, this shows a profound inconsistency on the part of the left. On the one hand, we are supposed to believe that there is *no* innate difference between male and female, that any such perceived differences are culturally imposed. On the other hand, a boy who shows an interest in traditional "girl" activities (maybe he likes fashion, hair, or cooking?) is showing that he "identifies" as female. Yipes! If we truly accept that each child should be encouraged to pursue his/her interests regardless of gender, then why can't a boy show an interest in a historically girl domain and still be allowed to grow and develop as a boy? Not only that, but why are "tomboys" who have always been culturally accepted now pushed to consider themselves "transgender"?
Okay, jumping off my soapbox now. This issue irritates me to no end. I'm glad I grew up before this nonsense--no doubt my habits of climbing trees and playing with slot cars and erector sets would have been the signal to completely mess up my development as a child.

Exactly, we had a few guys like this when I was in grade school, etc.
They were always hanging out with the girls. I think we even had a few in Home Ec classes. We used to call them “fays”. (grin)
The ones I still know of are perfectly adjusted hetero males with wives and family. All college graduates. Extremely decent, caring men and great fathers.
I could imagine how screwed up they’d be if their parents decided to pump them full of hormones at 12 years of age.
