Japan makes plans for rescue of 57,000 Japanese in South Korea and refugees coming from the North if crisis ensues

Japan’s National Security Council discussed on Friday what measures it would take to evacuate the country’s 57,000 citizens from South Korea in the event of a crisis.

The talks were held as tensions continued to escalate in the region over a possible nuclear test by North Korea, and as a US aircraft carrier group steamed into the region.

Tokyo would seek approval from Seoul to send military aircraft and warships, along with civilian transport, reports said.

Japanese leaders were also concerned about large numbers of refugees arriving on boats, and also the possibility of North Korean spies entering Japan.

However, there was concern among leaders that any preparations would cause alarm among the public.

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told a news conference on Friday that the government was always collecting and analysing information about North Korea's moves but refrained from commenting on details.

Let’s be glad that thus far it’s only “ in the event of a crisis”....but good they’re preparing....

y instinct tells me that all this preparation is because they are convinced if Kim steps out of line with firing a nuke Trumps going to be on them in a heart beat....and frankly China ‘s going to have a very serious problem on their hands they’ve long tried to avoid.

China ‘s going to have a very serious problem on their hands they’ve long tried to avoid.

That's key.

China has allowed the scourge of North Korea and the Kim dynasty to exist for decades.

Right across their border, there are millions of people living in a Hell on Earth existence for decades, and the Chinese have callously done nothing to stop it.

Clear example of extremist Asian cold-hearted self interest and racial preferences (if you're not one of us, then screw you.)

Well I’m the first to admit the mindset of Asians I could do without entirely...not fond of their culture either.

China uses N.Korea for their own self-serving purposes.....they like that N.Korea throws it weight around Nuclear wise.....Kims like a toy for them to use at will.

I’m not so sure how long Kim will stay under their thumb......or that he’s willing to remain as so. China doesn’t want them to get too advanced in any arena...they want them dependent on them and the control they have.

How long that arrangement will last is another story....

Savage reported this as an actual evacuation. He’s so lazy intellectually. Hard to take anything he says seriously.

Those plans have been on the table for years. Kim didn’t just emerge.

Forbes had a column that Japan should become a nuclear power. That may be the best way forward. Do folks agree with that?

In this climate, I’d say they should have them, then we don’t have to be so pivotal.

If China and U.S. do nothing now, that is what will happen. The situation has reached the stage where doing nothing will no longer preserve status quo.

Japan has grown tired of our troops and dependents on their islands.
Their next defense will be from their own nukes...
