I’ve had a diabetic episode some 14 years ago and, based on my experience, this guy might be innocent of any intent. I know diabetics need to be careful of low blood sugar and recognize symptoms. However, I have never had any recall of what I did and said. Apparently I started screaming at my desk and then ran down the hallway until I got confused and couldn’t unlock the door. Fortunately the people working with me knew I was an insulin dependent diabetic and took proper measured.
This guy was not found guilty of intent or manslaughter. He had a felony record from many years ago, purchased his weapon legally in 2001, but in 2012 the gun law was changed so he was sentenced for illegally owning a weapon.
