BEIRUT Syrias military said Israel struck a military installation southwest of Damascus International Airport before dawn Thursday, setting off a series of explosions and raising tensions further between the two neighbors.
Apparently seeking to interrupt weapons transfers to the Hezbollah group in Lebanon, Israel has struck inside Syria with increasing frequency in recent weeks, making the war-torn country a proxy theater for Israels wider war with Iran.
The increasing tempo of attacks risks inflaming a highly combustible situation drawing in Israel, Syria and the Iranian-backed Hezbollah, a staunch ally of President Bashar Assads government with thousands of fighters in Syria. Israels military said later Thursday that its Patriot Missile Defense system intercepted an incoming projectile from Syria over the Golan Heights.

A huge blast has rocked the area near Damascus International Airport early Thursday, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.
The Syrian Observatory said the explosion was followed by a fire at the same place, pointing out that the cause of the explosion is unclear.
“The blast was huge and could be heard in Damascus,” local residents said. Damascus International Airport is located 25 kilometers southeast of the Syrian capital.
Reports about the explosion are conflicting, while some reports claim that the “explosions” resulted from the bombing of the auxiliary gas pipeline that generates electricity in the Syrian capital, other reports suggest that the incident was caused by Israel’s Air Forces.....

In the early morning hours today loud explosions were heard emanating from the capitol of Syria, Damascus. Social media and news channels in the local areas have reported that this was an Israeli airstrike that hit a Hezbollah arms depot.
I can confirm that the incident in Syria completely conforms to Israels policy, to act so as to prevent the smuggling of advanced weapons from Syria to Hezbollah in Lebanon by Iran, said Israeli intelligence minister Yisrael Katz. ...Meaning the Israeli intelligence is neither confirming or denying that this was in fact an Israeli air strike.
Strikes like this are usually attributed to Israel because it is no secret that Hezbollah (their slogan is death to Israel) has been receiving new advanced rockets and ballistic missiles from the governments of both Syria and Iran. All of those missiles have a target, and that target is and always will be Israel. Therefore, thinking logically, Israel would be at a even greater threat if these missile transfers go on without an airstrikes destroying as many of them as possible.
Lebanese media out lets have reported that the IAF jets were flying over the Golan Heights area still inside the Israeli annexed part of the Golan, when the jets fired missiles still from inside Israeli airspace, near the Damascus military airport, striking arms depots and warehouses.

Israel has repeatedly said, with great clarity, that they will intervene if Iran or any other nation is caught trying to supply Hamas with high tech weapons that will be used against Israel.
Israel is simply doing what they have consistently said they will do. If any pace is quickening, it is the pace at which Iran is trying to smuggle high tech arms to Hamas in which to attack Israel.

(I won’t tell my son this-he’s out now but his grandfather-in-law was in Beirut at the time)
I had a friend there then.
If you read and listen to what the putinistas say, you’ll notice they’re not very happy with President Trump because he’s not acting like Hillary towards putin.
I hear crickets on this thread.
There was a french/kurd video of Assad state oil workers still on Assad pay roll operating refineries for IsIs but the Putinistas believe only McCain plays those games, not Russians....
Horrible time. Grandpa battled with it his whole life.
